I am a working mother of one soccer-obsessed teen and a just entered middle school tween! I have been an editor and reporter for–ahhem–numerous years and am a big defender of the First Amendment.

I am on a journey to find myself, my place in the universe and who I am beyond a mom, daughter, sister, coworker. The Ex and IĀ separatedĀ in 2008 after a rocky year prior and I found myself lonely in another area of the state 90 miles from friends and family. I had to rebuild, restart and move on! I think I’ve done OK by the kids and myself. The blog is a place for me to talk through my struggles–we all have them. I’m now remarried to my high school sweetheart and loving it. This blog is a place I can vent, share and grow. It’s a place I can still hold on to certain dreams, while learning to let go of others. It’s a place for me.

Thanks for visiting. I look forward to meeting other awesome people through the “series of tubes” aka the Internet. One thing is certain, after these past 2 years I now love living in TJ’s Town (i.e. Thomas Jefferson’s Charlottesville).

  1. Really love that you are doing this for “you”. It is amazing when you can touch, entertain, or perhaps even upset thousands of others that come to read your words, but at the end of the day, you are so right – typing your thoughts, your struggles, your joys, etc is really all for you. At least, that is how I see my journey. Looking forward to reading more of your blog.

  2. Your words serve not only to document your own journey, but give voice to others. Your wish to carve a space to harvest and grieve dreams resonates with me. I hope this space becomes all you seek and even more than you ever imagined.

  3. I am a HUGE Thomas Jefferson fan….Have you learned anything interesting about him by living in the town?

    • I’ve learned a lot of fun things about him: he loved peas! My son loves them so that cracks me up!

He didn’t want to put president on his gravestone. He only wanted to be known for 3 things and that wasn’t one of them.

He was quite the inventor: the dumbwaiters at Monticello are fascinating!

I love visiting Monticello! Last year I had a behind-the-scenes tour w/historians for the media and it was beautiful! I loved it! I wrote about it here: http://terrybeigie.files.wordpress.com/2010/12/homestylejuly20101.pdf
